Manual Handling Training is an indispensable component of ensuring a safe and healthy workplace environment across all business sectors. The Manual Handling Regulations 1992 legally mandate that individuals who are involved in lifting and carrying loads or objects be provided with appropriate training to ensure that they follow safe lifting practices.
This training is of utmost importance to everyone in the workplace who physically moves, lifts, or transports loads, and it can also greatly benefit managers and supervisors by helping them understand their duties and responsibilities. With proper manual handling training, employees can avoid injuries caused by incorrect lifting techniques and work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs), which can lead to absenteeism, decreased productivity, and increased costs for businesses.
While fatal manual handling accidents are rare, accidents resulting in a major injury are more common, accounting for more than 10% of the total number of reported manual accidents.
This course can be delivered directly in your workplace anywhere across the North Wales area for up to 6-12 delegates. Call 01978 884 775 and ask to speak with one of our Training Consultants to discuss your training requirements for this course.
Improper manual handling of goods can easily cause injury if not done properly – back and neck injury is common as well as trap injuries especially with goods which are too heavy to properly lift.
Manual handling is simply the moving of items. Whether you’re lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing or pulling, you should always be aware of the risks. It’s one of the most common causes of injury at work, and causes over a third of all workplace injuries, including work related Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSDs) such as upper and lower limb pain, and joint and repetitive strain injuries.
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations place a duty on every employer to reduce the potential injury from manual handling operations.
