This paediatric first aid training 2 day course focuses on emergency scenarios that face professionals looking after young children and infants, including teachers, playgroup leaders, childcare providers, au pairs, nannies and childminders.
The Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid Training qualification meets the standards required by Ofsted and complies with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage document for children aged from birth to five.

Who is this paediatric first aid training 2 day course suitable for:
This course is designed for anybody who might have to identify and manage emergency situations, or deal with very minor everyday occurrences, whilst looking after young children and babies. The course is aimed at anybody who comes into contact with children including pre-school staff, nursery staff, play workers, children centre staff, teachers, Learning Support Assistants, holiday camp workers, parent and toddler group volunteers, child minders, nannies, foster carers, au pairs, parent helpers, babysitters, community workers, youth workers, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Duration: 2 Days – 12 hour duration.

Paediatric First Aid Training – Course Aims:
The aims of the Paediatric First Aid Training 2 Day course is to equip the delegate working within the childcare sector with a sound knowledge and understanding of adult, child and baby first aid procedures. All attendees will also be able to recognise childhood medical conditions and carry out the correct emergency treatment required until the emergency services arrive.
Course content:
This Course content covers the essential life saving skills for babies, infants and young children in play settings and the home environment. Each course can be adapted to mirror the working environment and surroundings of your particular child care setting.

- First aid kit – what they contain and why
- How to assess an emergency situation
- Action planning
- How to assess an emergency situation
- Dealing with an unconscious infant or child
- Choking
- Wounds and bleeds
- Fractures and dislocation
- Diabetes
- Septicaemia
- Sickle cell anemia
- Resuscitation and CPR for children and babies
- Asthma and croup
- Head injuries
- Foreign objects
- Febrile convulsions
- Anaphylaxis
- Dealing with a poisoned casualty
- Head, Neck and Back injuries
- Ear, Nose and Eye conditions
- Diabetes
- Meningitis

Assessment and Certification:
Accreditation: Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF).
Candidates will be assessed by ongoing practical assessment throughout the course by the tutor. There will be multiple choice question paper to answer in respect of their knowledge. A Certificate will be issued to the delegate subject to successfully completing the assessment which is accredited and valid for 3 years. The qualification meets the criteria defined for first aid training in the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework (EYFS) and Ofsted first aid requirements for registered childminders. It can also be used as evidence for employees working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education.

QA Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid Training (RQF) qualification
A number of FREE first aid at work manuals will be handed out on this course and if more are required these can be ordered from us. Because this is a fully accredited Paediatric first aid course you can be assured that you have fulfilled your legal responsibilities for providing quality first aid training to your staff. All our courses can be delivered directly in your workplace anywhere in the North Wales area. ‘In House’ training means that we simply come to your premises to deliver the training.
We will always be updating our course content and implementing changes as required by the HSE in delivery of our Paediatric First Aid training courses.
Course cost includes:
– Course Materials and FREE Manual for each delegate
– Accredited certificate (RQF) Valid for 3 years
– First Aid ID Card
In addition, the HSE strongly recommend that all students undergo an annual refresher programme of three hours.
